Mashed potatoes give/gave me non-stop diarrhea-why?

I ate some mashed potatoes today and now I had a bowel movement, and now I feel like I need to go again. I had this same problem at Thanksgiving last year,mashed potatoes gave me non-stop diarrhea.. Why are mashed potatoes giving me non-stop diarrhea?
